Round 2 of the Revolution Touring Car Champs was held on March 5th. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed for a day of competitive racing. The track layout has been changed for Round 2, providing a new challenge for everyone. Lately Joe and Ah M have established themselves as the fastest Cyclone drivers around, so going against them is definitely tough. As usual, I was using the out-of-the-box T2 kit with Novak GTB brushless system, which has been running very well indeed.

After 3 rounds of qualifying, I was placed 3rd on the starting grid right behind Joe and Ah M. The 1st Final started out cleanly with me in 3rd following the two leaders. Midway through, both leaders were caught up in an accident, allowing me to go past to take the lead, though with Ah M recovering quickly to stay right behind me. With one minute to go, traffic in front broke my rhythm and this small lapse of concentration allowed Ah M to overtake me and retake the lead for the remainder of the race. It sure was tough to hold the lead, but it was exciting and fun!

Upcoming Singapore Nationals Round-2 click to enlarge

This coming weekend will be the Singapore Nationals Round-2, another tough race. For the nationals, we run counter-clockwise and with 7min duration! In the previous nationals Round-1, I was plagued by motor thermal shutdown issues (Novak Velociti 5.5) for all 3 qualifying rounds. Since I couldn’t even complete a proper qualifying, I ended up in the B-Main of which I eventually won after finally resolving the thermal issue. Needless to say I was disappointed for not making the top 10 because the T2 was certainly on pace as I clocked the 3rd fastest lap time during qualifying. So the pace is there, I just need to get my electronics right for 7mins now.

Special thanks to the folks of Tai Sing Corp for organizing and sponsoring the great prizes for the race, and Racecraft Infinity for the great venue.
